The Unburnt candle - Geometry Nodes setup - Scaling a curve frame by frame with memory effect
This is a GeoNode setup, created in Blender 3.4. It creates a custom curve, scales its radius frane by frame by a current value (be it audio or keyframes or otherwise.) The setup adds a "memory effects" where all the previous values are still applied too.
This example is a scene, utilizing this setup. Here, we also create and scale curve by audio, and turn it into mesh. In addition we save the UV map, so we can apply a texture. An other GeoNodes setup adds a slight "melt" effect.

NOTE
- Since it is a concept demonstration, it is kept as simple as possible. The GeoNodes trees are kept clean for easier readability and have detailed explanations. Everything is built from the base. The point of these setups is to provide a base core of the concept, node from node, instead of contracting all into node groups with exposed settings, which makes everything harder to read and dissect.
You can embellish, refine as you wish based on the core or realize your own ideas.
